Thank Heavens For Music

Editing can become a little overwhelming at times and so can sitting for hours on end (I'm praying I don't get a secretary butt). I've realized that the only thing that keeps me sane while I edit for long periods of time is music. Music has always been a huge part of my life so it's really no surprise that it's my secret weapon. I thought it would be fun to share some of the songs that move me, rock me, get me... Just kidding. Here ya go...

Adele - Cold Shoulder - "You shower me with words made of knives..." Harsh sentence, great song.

Cake - Comfort Eagle - I could see how other people might not enjoy this song, but I LOVE it.

Keren Ann - Lay Your Head Down - (3:24-end) makes me very happy.

Landon Pigg - Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop - I love sweet boys and he seems to be one.

Kings of Leon - On Call - Thanks Emily for introducing me to this band via your blog.

Sia - Lentil - (3:20-end) I would do anything to have the power she has. This girl can SING. And if you're in need of a good laugh go to itunes and look at her album cover. It's... colorful.

Kate Nash - Merry Happy - Anything that says, "Don't tell me that you didn't try and check out my bum..." in the first 30 seconds is bound to be a favorite of mine. Plus, the beat of the song is so cute and different.

Damien Rice - 9 Crimes - Sad, but beautiful. Strangely this is my favorite type of music.

A Fine Frenzy - Almost Lover - One of my all-time favorite songs. And her voice is insanely beautiful.

Angels & Airwaves - Everything's Magic - Roll your windows down, let the wind blow in your hair kind of song.

She & Him - I Just Love You - This is Zoey Deschanel. I fell in love with her voice on Elf.

Rachael Yamagata - Be Be Your Love - Oh how I love your voice, Rachael. So rich with a little bit of scratchiness.

Fort Minor - Red to Black (edited) - Heard this on a trip to Lake Powell and I just love it. Cool beat.

Imogen Heap - The Moment I Said It - (2:55-end) I can't help but stop whatever I'm doing to hear this section of the song. Her voice is hypnotizing. I saw her at a small venue in SLC a couple years ago and she is so very talented and kinda quirky. I LOVE HER.

Cold Play - See You Soon (Live) - I want to learn this song on the guitar even though I don't play.

Cat Power - Could We - Crazy cool voice.

Katy Perry - I'm Still Breathing - Can't stand her song they're playing on all the radio stations, but this one I can handle.

John Mayer - Man on the Side (Live) - Not a well-known song of his. It might be my favorite. It's about a boy humble enough to wait for a girl.

Mute Math - You Are Mine - "Everyone has their obsession, consuming thoughts, consuming time. They hold high their prized possession that defines the meaning of their lives... You are mine." SUCH a cool song. Not a popular band, but I bet they will be soon.

That was fun for me... I might make it a common post subject from here on out. I have way too many favorites that one post won't even touch the surface. I'll have to spread them out over a period of time.

Here's a shot to leave you with. I plan on posting the rest on Thursday, so come on back ya'll!

k i think i recognized two of those songs...and yes 'Man on the Side' is heavenly if you ask me. And everyone needs to hear the John Mayer live version of 'Comfortable'. Love it.
Maybe you should make me a CD of all of those...thanks.
