Here is my end of summer playlist. I've noticed a theme throughout my recent favorites and I must be in a somber mood, because only a couple of the following songs are upbeat. Don't let that deter you from giving them a chance, though. Some of the most beautiful songs (in my opinion) are the ones that twist your heart a little or put a pit in your stomach. It's one of the amazing side effects of good music.

Holly Conlan
Come Back Home

David Gray
Holding On

Imogen Heap
Wait it Out

Frank Sinatra
In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning

Missy Higgins
Stuff and Nonsense

Tim Myers
On Your Side

Marina & the Diamonds
I am Not a Robot

Meaghan Smith
A Little Love

Sleepy Rebels
Magic Girl

Justin Timberlake (Featuring Charlie Sexton)
Hallelujah

Mindy is a local gal, but I'm afraid our little town is too small to hold this much talent...

Give all of her songs a listen, but my favorite is Anchor. It's sweet as can be.

"...there are those who think that I'm strange, they would box me up and tell me to change,
but you hold me close and softly say that you wouldn't have me any other way..."

So funny...I was going to leave a comment suggesting you listen to Mindy, but then I got to the bottom and there she was. I guess I'm a bit biased {she's my cousin} but I love her new album. I need to take a listen to some of the others too!

Mindy is Lindsey Winkel's older sister. Do you remember Lindsey? Anyway, I have always loved Mindy and she just keeps getting better. Don't you have a church album? Details woman! Details!

My summer soundtrack consisted (almost entirely) of "You Spin Me Right Around" from the Chipmunks Squeakquel. My kids seriously wanted to listen to that song whenever music was played this summer.
I will forever think of the Summer of 2010 as the summer of You Spin Me Right Around.
I guess that song didn't make it on your list. ;)

I'm enjoying your soundtrack recommendations. For my end of summer soundtrack (now that the kids are in school again ;)), I just discovered a song called "Lead Me" by Sanctus Real. It really fits the description of a song that "twists your heart a little" for me. Also, I've been listening to some JJ Heller. Like "Your Hands." These might be well-known songs...? But it's a new genre for me, so I'm not sure.
